Conveying Diverter Valves
The Pneumatic Conveying Diverter is used to reroute product from one convey line to another. The body is available in cast iron, cast aluminum or cast stainless steel. An internal flap plate is fabricated of mild steel or stainless steel, with a polyurethane rubber wiper seal. The parabolic shape provides a good seal without any gaps. Operation is either by pneumatic air cylinder, electric linear actuator, manual lever arm or rotary type actuators. The units come standard with spigots as specified by the customer, either OD tube or nominal pipe. Sizes available are: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 inch.
Plug Diverter Valves
Plug Diverters are heavy-duty alternatives to the flap type conveying diverter. They have an internal plug that rotates 150 degrees to reroute product from one leg to the other. The round hole in the plug matches the round blow through ports, making for a very smooth transition. The units work well on applications with large particles that may get caught in a flap type diverter, causing leakage to the dead leg. As there is no rubber seal, the plug diverter is well suited to more abrasive products. A pneumatic rotary actuator is used to rotate the plug as standard, but can also be supplied with an electric actuator or hand crank. The units come standard with spigots as specified by the customer: flangd, OD tube or nominal pipe. Sizes available are: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 inch.
Gravity Diverter Valves
The Gravity Diverter is also used to reroute product from one line to another, but is used only in gravity flow applications. The body is fabricated from mild steel or stainless steel. An internal flap plate is also mild steel or stainless steel, with a polyurethane rubber wiper seal. For more abrasive applications, a bucket type diverter is used where an internal chute is moved back and forth to divert product flow. Operation is either by pneumatic air cylinder, electric linear actuator, manual lever arm or rotary type actuators. Since these units are fabricated, practically any size or divert angle can be manufactured. Units are available as 2-way (one inlet and two outlets) or 3-way (one inlet and three outlets). Typical divert angles are 30x30 and 0x30, but again - special angles can be made. Flanges are round, square or even rectangular.
Knife
Gate Valves
Knife Gates are designed and manufactured as shut off gates for the gravity flow of granular or powder bulk solids from bins and hoppers. All units are heavy duty design, suitable for abrasive applications. Materials of construction are fabricated mild steel or stainless steel. Operation is either by hand crank with screw rod, pneumatic air cylinder, electric actuator or chain wheel. Sizes available are 6, 8, 10, 12 14, 16, 18, 20 and 24 inch. Special sizes can also be accommodated.
Double Dumps
Double Dumps are airlocks for low-pressure applications on fibrous or very abrasive products where rotary airlocks would jam and/or suffer intolerable wear. The maximum pressure differential is typically 20” Wg, while the maximum temperature is in excess of 1,000° F. Carolina Conveying Double Dumps consist of two flaps connected by count erweights or spring loaded spindles, which are operated by a motor driven cam. The cam alternately opens and closes each flap, allowing material to pass through the separate chambers in batch form and insuring a gas seal. Pneumatic units are also available with air cylinders, solenoid valves, limit switches and cycle timers. With these units, the air cylinders control the opening and closing of the flaps. Cycle timers allow easy adjustment of the number of batches per minute. Gravity flow units are also available with just counter weights. These units do not open until enough material has accumulated on the flap to overpower the adjustable counterweight. Sizes: 6, 8, 10 and 12 inch are the standard range. Up to 24 inch units can be fabricated.
