Rite-Rate Volumetric Screw Feeders
Volumetric screw feeders are used to accurately discharge product at a controlled rate. Carolina Conveying offers two styles: a Sanitary Style and General Purpose.
The General Purpose Feeder has a V shaped feed trough and vibrator motor. The hopper is mounted on isolation mounts. This unit works well on all free flowing products, or those that require minimal agitation to keep product flowing into the screw. This unit is available in mild steel or stainless steel, and can also be fitted with a quick release feed screw and feed tube. Standard sizes range from 1 inch through 4 inch feed screw. Large size feeders are also available.
Rite-Weight Gravimetric Screw Feeders
Both the Sanitary Style Feeder and General Purpose Feeder may be used for gravimetric applications. This includes batch loss-in-weight, batch gain-in-weight, continuous loss-in-weight and continuous gain-in-weight. For loss-in-weight applications, the feeder is mounted on load cells that constantly monitor the weight of material in feeder. A controller monitors the weight loss from the feeder to accurately control batch sizes or discharge rates. For gain-in-weight applications, the feeders are filling a hopper or other device downstream. The controller in this case monitors the weight gain and controls the screw feeder accordingly. Typical accuracy is +/- 0.5%.
Carolina Conveying has supplied numerous systems, integrating product storage and feeder accuracy together. Product storage can be with our Bulk Bag Discharge Station, Solibin IBC System, Hoppers or Bag Dump Stations. For hoppers with poor flowing products, we offer the Bin Activator and Soliflo to insure product discharge. Allowing Carolina Conveying to integrate your system requirements not only insures accurate batches, but also product flow from storage. A typical Solibin IBC System is shown to the right with an 8 screw conveyor. The entire unit is mounted on load cells for accurate batching of material.
